ISL won an Award of Excellence at the 2013 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards Gala in Ottawa on October 23, 2013. ISL was honoured in the Water Resources category for our work on the Exshaw Municipal Water System project in Exshaw, Alberta.
The Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards are considered the highest recognition for excellence in the consulting engineering industry. “The awards showcase the great work that consulting engineers perform throughout the country and across the world. Their work influences every aspect of our lives in one way or another,” says John Gamble, president of ACEC. “To win an Award of Excellence in one of our nine categories is considered a prestigious honour by the consulting engineering industry.”
Award winners were selected by a panel of 12 independent jurors with varied backgrounds and knowledge of the industry.
“ISL’s commitment to integrating sustainable thinking and approaches to our projects is definitely a key factor in our success at this year’s awards,” says Rodney Peacock, President and CEO of ISL Engineering and Land Services. “I’m proud of the ISL team for delivering a municipal water system that is an effective, sustainable, low life-cycle cost solution.”
ISL Engineering and Land Services designed and implemented a complete municipal water system in Exshaw, a hamlet in the Municipal District of Bighorn, Alberta to replace untreated water from private wells. This new water system met the Municipal District's sustainability goals, providing a low maintenance, low life-cycle cost system to effectively treat the complex raw water. Retrofitted throughout the community, the new distribution system supplies treated water for individual and firefighting needs.
