G37 Overpass Recognized for Engineering Excellence

The Glenmore Trail and 37 Street Overpass (G37) project was recognized for engineering excellence at the Consulting Engineers of Alberta'’'s (CEA) Showcase Awards in Edmonton on Friday, February 11. This annual event celebrates engineering achievements across Alberta and shines the spotlight on technical and business excellence.

The lead consultants form ISL Engineering and Land Services and CH2M Hill Canada, along with representatives from The City of Calgary, were on hand to receive an Award of Excellence in Project Management. This award recognizes achievement in the organization and delivery of the interchange project, which was designed and delivered in under six months.

An October 2010 Calgary Herald editorial recognized the delivery of the G37 project as "an exemplary piece of work which should serve as a model for further improvements citywide." The CEA award provides industry recognition and concurrence for this same effort, with one judge indicating that it was a text book example of how such projects should be done.

""It was a team effort right from the beginning with The City, ourselves and the contractors working together to deliver the project in record time and under budget," says Cal McClary, Calgary Manager for ISL. "We used a sustainable and integrated project delivery approach to this critical infrastructure, and ISL is proud to have worked closely with The City of Calgary through all stages of planning, design and construction."
