Edmonton, Alberta - ISL Engineering and Land Services (ISL) is proud to be among Canada’s 30 most environmentally-conscious employers. This is the second time ISL has been on this list.
The list of Canada’s “Green 30” organizations, based on employee perceptions about their record on environmental stewardship, was released on April 28, 2011, by Aon Hewitt. The list was developed based on employee responses to questions in the 2011 Best Small and Medium Employers in Canada survey. Over 130,000 employees at more than 250 organizations were asked about their employer’s environmental practices. ISL ranked within the top 30 companies whose employees have a positive perception of their efforts.
With a serious commitment to sustainability, ISL offers its employees programs and opportunities to make environmental choices. Our Healthy Living Account allows staff to allocate dollars (up to $650 per family per year) toward a variety of sustainable living options ranging from the purchase of a hybrid car or energy efficient appliances.
ISL also promotes many internal programs for energy and waste reduction. The internal programs include methods to reduce carbon footprint and energy use, reduce/eliminate paper use and encourage responsible paper use, and waste diversion through recycling and composting.
Employees also benefit from programs like the community garden in Edmonton, or the company SMART car in BC. Community participation is also encouraged and ISL offices participate in their community clean ups every spring and work to raise money for local organizations throughout the year.
“We are proud to be on the Green 30 list again this year," says Rodney Peacock, President and CEO of ISL. “We really believe that we have to exhibit sustainable behaviour as a company and I am proud of the individual choices our team makes every day. Every step, big and small, will get us to our strategic sustainability goals.”
