BUILDING ENCLOSURES

Building enclosures are key to protecting interior space from the environment. Typical components of building enclosures include roofs, windows, doors, floor systems and walls. All of these components work interdependently to ensure the space inside a building remains comfortable and safe from the elements of wind, precipitation, temperature and humidity.

Over time, building science and how we enclose structures has evolved. Factors such as current industry knowledge, new building materials, and the growing pressure for buildings to be energy efficient while maintaining design aesthetics, are changing how we look at enclosing spaces.

ISL uses industry best practices to consult on existing buildings and new construction projects. We investigate and remediate enclosure issues plaguing existing buildings and also consult on new construction projects, reducing the risk of future costly enclosure problems. We have built relationships with local property managers and contractors and have the benefit of integrating expertise from all of our Western Canadian offices to provide high quality building enclosure consulting.
