About This Project
ISL was retained by Western Archrib to provide specialty engineering services, shop drawing production, and aesthectically exposed connections. The base building consultants produced their drawings in 2D format, which meant the ISL had to create the 3D model from scratch for glulam shop drawing production.
Unconventional loads for glulam were required to be restrained at beam ends due to torsion.
Our in depth knowledge of timber and modern timber fasteners allowed us to design aesthetically appropriate connections while restraining unconventional loads.
Roof geometry was incredibly complicated as slopes varied in two directions to form a curving and undulating roof. ISL solved this issue by their meticulous modeling and detailing process this ensured all beam cuts and slopes were correct to achieve the unique roof shape.
Columns were revised from glulam to LVL beam and vice versa as well as changed locations throughout the shop drawing process as the design was still progressing. ISL’s project management shop drawing process included preliminary sets for general and then detailed geometry review by the consultant team before issuing an entire detailed shop drawing package.
