A vibrant and inclusive community destination

About This Project
The Re-Imagine Central Park project redefines a long-loved community park at the heart of Spruce Grove, transforming it into a vibrant gathering space for people of all ages. In collaboration with the City and New Line Skateparks, ISL led the planning, functional programming and concept design for the site, blending new ideas with the character and history of the existing park.
Guided by extensive community engagement, the concept reflects local priorities for accessibility, safety and connection. Special programming, winter activities and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles were all integrated to ensure the park feels welcoming and active year-round.
The concept plan envisions a lively and inclusive space featuring a skatepark, pumptrack, bike skills park, play areas, picnic shelters, community gardens, fitness equipment and naturalized landscapes, while retaining cherished features such as the skating loop and spray pad. By improving sightlines and opening up views, the design enhances safety, encourages more daily use and strengthens the park’s sense of community.
ISL also supported the city in presenting the plan to Council, illustrating how the revitalized park aligns with broader City Centre goals. The concept was met with enthusiasm and approval, paving the way for a renewed green heart that celebrates recreation, inclusion and connection in downtown Spruce Grove.
