Minoru Lakes District Renewal Wins 2025 Parks Excellence Award
We’re excited to share that the Minoru Lakes District Renewal has been awarded the 2025 Parks Excellence Award by the BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA).
In 2019, ISL was engaged to restore the 7-hectare Minoru Lakes District—a key natural retreat within Richmond’s Minoru Park. After decades without a natural water source, the area had suffered from declining water quality and shoreline erosion. The focus of this renewal is the creation of an ecologically healthy and resilient lake water system.
Key improvements included:
- Restoration of two lakes using an innovative rainwater-fed recirculation system.
- A comprehensive habitat renewal plan.
- Revitalized pathways and plazas, improved connectivity, and expanded accessibility features for all users.
- Stabilized and raised shorelines to improve water depth and prevent further erosion.
- New bridges, a lakeside pavilion, and inviting spaces for quiet reflection and community gathering.
- An expanded tree canopy to enhance the park’s climate resilience and natural character.
We’re proud to have contributed to the renewal of this cherished urban greenspace and are honoured by BCRPA’s recognition of this work.
