Alana Getty Somers, P.Eng.

General Manager, Transportation

Alana brings robust experience from both sides of the desk to ISL’s Board of Directors, with over 20 years’ experience in both government roles and consulting engineering. As the Transportation General Manager for ISL Calgary, Alana is responsible for leading the ISL transportation team and providing oversight of our diverse slate of successful transportation projects. She has delivered a wide range of projects through the iterative design and environmental impact processes in both urban and rural settings, from functional planning to construction.
Alana is well known for strong leadership and communication skills, bringing together a wide array of project stakeholders and members of the public, local municipalities, business communities, and regulatory agencies on complex projects.

Geoffrey Schulmeister, P.Eng., SCPM

General Manager, Water and Environment

An accomplished problem solver, Geoffrey digs deep to find unique insights and approaches. As General Manager, Water and Environment for ISL Calgary, Geoffrey has managed the assessment, design, construction and operation of hundreds of municipal and water resources projects, including water, wastewater, stormwater, hydrotechnical, and environmental systems. His unique mix of infrastructure planning and asset rehabilitation experience is deployed to assist municipalities in leveraging limited funds to maximize use of their existing infrastructure.
Geoffrey completed the Stanford University Advanced Project Management program in 2016; this includes integration of strategic management practices with day to day project management complexities. Using this knowledge, combined with over 18 years of experience, he has built the Water and Environment group in Calgary to include professional services for all stages of the water cycle. A strategic thinker, Geoffrey continues to look to the future in both water resources and business.
