Buildings

An integral part of the project team, our Structural specialists design and deliver safe, cost effective, beautiful structures that last. From heavy civil structural applications to legacy bridges and building enclosures, our engineering approach includes minimizing project footprints, cost effective use of materials and consideration of community esthetics.

With in-house timber and historical restoration specialists, we can make any structure unique and beautiful.

Used to working as part of a larger, architectural team, our Buildings group uses collaborative, creative approaches to ensure the building vision comes to life.

Water

Our integrated services span the complete water management cycle from water intake to the re-use of treated wastewater for non-potable use. We have a reputation for providing practical robust designs and sustainable solutions using cutting-edge technologies and innovative approaches, while maximizing the use of existing infrastructure. 

ISL’s Water team provides governments and the private sector with innovative and sustainable engineering solutions for all their water treatment and distribution needs. Our work with clients has been recognized with industry awards for project management, sustainable design, water resources, technology innovation and environmental engineering.  

Starting from the source, our team has experience designing and facilitating the full spectrum of sustainable municipal water treatment and distribution systems. We are experienced in providing solutions for the full treatment system, including raw water abstraction, water treatment, disinfection and treated water storage. With every project, we offer our commitment to quality, safety and the preservation of the environment.

Community

ISL’s Community experts define and design the spaces and places that make your neighbourhood great. It starts with Community Planning, working with all levels of governance to define and plan policies and land use. The Community Development group works with public and private developers to design and create modern residential, commercial and industrial spaces. Our Landscape Architects define and design urban environments and create parks and recreational spaces. With the help of Community Engagement, project stakeholders are identified, included and heard.

Environment

Environmental management and sustainable design are an integrated part of our service delivery. Environmental Services at ISL works to minimize our impact on the earth, groundwater and habitat. By understanding water and groundwater and its effect on structures and soil, we engineer and embrace natural processes to minimize our effect. We have a deep understanding of regulatory acts and approval processes in Alberta and British Columbia and provide field assessments and plans, monitoring and management of environmentally sensitive sites.
