Land Development Feasibility and Studies
ISL provides high-quality planning advisory services to rural and urban municipalities on a variety of planning activities, such as project reviews and amendments to planning documents and policies. In the absence of an in-house planning capacity, these advisory services provide our clients with the benefit of technical knowledge from professional planners.
ISL’s Land Use Planning team brings a strong track record of conducting planning work for a wide variety of municipalities. Our team integrates with the existing staff to create a cohesive team that can effectively and efficiently respond to stakeholder requests, such as development inquiries, preparing land use planning reports, assisting with presentations to Council and providing Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB)/Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) training. Our expertise and experience provides the benefit of a proven management approach to planning challenges. As a multidisciplinary consulting firm, ISL is specially equipped to make use of expertise in other related fields, such as GIS-based land use analysis and mapping, land development, landscape architecture and transportation and municipal engineering.
These interdisciplinary capabilities allow us to consult in-house expertise when reviewing geotechnical reports, applying landscaping and transportation-related conditions to subdivision and development permit approvals, liaising with Alberta Transportation on their responses to circulation referrals and conducting studies that require the integration of land use, transportation and infrastructure planning as a proactive response to managing growth. Our in-house geomatics, public consultation and 3D visualization support staff provide vital value-added services to round out our advisory offerings.
