About This Project
Gates Park is the City of Port Coquitlam’s largest and most significant sports park. The 15-hectare park features five soccer fields (two artificial turf), four ball diamonds, tennis courts, a playground, a fieldhouse and washroom facilities.
ISL was hired by the City to provide conceptual plans for the redevelopment of a 4-hectare portion of the park. The redevelopment is to accommodate BC Soccer’s planned new head office as well as regional and provincial soccer tournaments at the park. This work includes the creation of a hub at the west end of the park. It features a new fieldhouse/BC Soccer head office, an artificial turf soccer field, a warm up field, field lighting, bleachers, a multi-use plaza, a parking lot, an access road and a central pedestrian boulevard that runs through the park.
Costings as well as renderings of the proposed new park design were included in the project scope. The concept plans, costing and renderings are to aid in fundraising efforts by the project stakeholders for future site construction.
The existing soccer field was also reconfigured to accommodate the planned new facilities.
