ISL Recognized with Three Premier’s Awards
ISL was honoured with three awards at the Premier’s Awards of Excellence in Design, presented during SK Design Week and hosted by the Design Council of Saskatchewan. The annual awards celebrate outstanding applied design work across the province’s design professions, including architecture, planning, engineering, landscape architecture, interior design, and graphic design.
This year, ISL’s projects were recognized across both the Engineering and Integrated Design categories.
awâsisak kâ-nîmîhtocik St. Francis School
The awâsisak kâ-nîmîhtocik St. Francis School project received an Award of Excellence in the Integrated Design category, highlighting the significant collaboration between multiple design disciplines.
Designed to serve as a culturally grounded, inclusive learning environment, the project brings together architecture, engineering, and landscape design to support Indigenous education in Saskatchewan. ISL contributed structural engineering services, working closely with project partners to ensure that the building’s form, materiality, and functionality aligned seamlessly with its educational purpose and community-led vision.
This recognition reflects the strength of interdisciplinary teamwork and the project’s significance as a community-focused learning space.

Two Twelve Mass Timber Condo
ISL received an Award of Merit in the Engineering category for the Two Twelve Mass Timber Condo, Saskatoon’s first luxury condominium constructed entirely with exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT).
As Structural Engineer-of-Record, ISL led the mass timber connection design and engineered a hybrid structural system of CLT, concrete and steel. Prefabricated components improved construction efficiency, minimized waste and enabled precise on-site assembly.
Featuring seven suites of more than 1,700 sq ft each, Two Twelve blends sustainability with high-end residential living, creating a warm, natural interior aesthetic through its fully exposed timber structure. The project marks a milestone in Saskatchewan’s adoption of advanced mass timber design.

Lloydminster Wastewater Treatment Facility
The Lloydminster Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) earned an Honourable Mention in the Engineering category for its innovative delivery and technical excellence.
ISL served as the Owner’s Engineer for the multiyear upgrade, guiding the City of Lloydminster from planning through construction. Facing a fixed budget, tight timeline, and pandemic disruptions, ISL recommended transitioning from Design-Build to Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) — a shift that enabled collaborative problem-solving and accelerated decision-making.
The new facility incorporates bioreactor membrane tanks, enhanced clarifiers, phased construction to maintain operations, and advanced process modeling that reduced material use and improved efficiency. Completed ahead of schedule and under budget, it is recognized as North America’s first wastewater treatment facility delivered through IPD.
